Sedation Dentistry

Do you experience dental anxiety? Modern dentistry now offers so many options for keeping you comfortable that there's no need for you to ever let anxiety prevent you from making dental appointments.

Nitrous oxide is an odorless gas that's mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small nasal tube that sits under your nostrils. Nitrous is the mildest, yet extremely effective, form of sedation. will not put you to sleep. You will remain alert enough to communicate with our team, but you will enjoy a calming sense of well-being that helps you relax, which allows us to do our work as efficiently as possible. Dr. Joo is trained to administer nitrous oxide safely, and during your procedure, a member of our team will be right there with you to monitor your progress.

Oral sedation is another option that's great for moderate anxiety. Dr. Joo will prescribe a prescription sedative that should be taken about an hour before your appointment. This helps you relax even before you arrive at our office. While oral sedation is very calming, we often mix it with nitrous oxide. This combination ensures that you remain calm before, during, and after your procedure. Please note that oral sedation requires a driver to get you to and from your appointment safely.

IV sedation is the way to go if you experience intense anxiety or just want to go to sleep during your procedure. Dr. Joo is qualified to administer IV sedation right here in our office so you don't have to visit another doctor to get the anxiety relief you need. IV sedation doesn't just help with your anxiety, either. It allows Dr. Joo to work freely, allowing him to perform your treatment more efficiently and cutting down the time usually needed for certain procedures.
