At Park Place Dental, our team is always looking for ways to make high-quality dentistry accessible and affordable to all our patients. That's why we're excited to announce that we now accept patients using the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This partnership with CDCP opens up a world of possibilities, allowing us to offer our wide range of comprehensive dental services to all patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care to protect their smiles and dental health.

Am I Eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

There are a few ways you may be eligible to receive CDCP benefits:

  • You don't currently have dental insurance and have a household income of less than $90,000 per year
  • You are a senior aged 65 or older
  • You are a child under the age of 18
  • You are an adult with a valid federal Disability Tax Credit certificate

To qualify for CDCP, you also can't have access to dental benefits through a student organization, employer, or pension benefits. You can contact Service Canada if you have questions about eligibility for CDCP.

The Benefits of Using CDCP Coverage

The Canadian Dental Care Plan offers several benefits for families and patients who qualify.

Defrays Cost

The CDCP plan covers some dental care costs for qualifying children, adults, and seniors.

Promotes Oral Health

Good oral health is essential for maintaining your overall health and well-being.

Builds Relationships

The CDCP allows you to become a valued patient at Park Place Dental, promoting good oral health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Canadian Dental Care Plan coverage should be renewed each year to ensure continued eligibility. The deadline for CDCP benefits renewal is June 1st.

You can submit a new application if you didn't renew and your coverage ended on June 30th, but you will have coverage gaps until it is reinstated. If you have dental treatments during the gap period, they will not be covered or reimbursed retroactively.

Before seeking dental treatment or services, it is a good idea to confirm that your coverage is active. It is also important to be aware that your co-payment level may change after your plan is renewed.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) covers a range of essential oral health services for eligible Canadians. Here is a summary of what is and isn't included.

What the CDCP Covers in Barrie

The plan covers the following categories of care:

  • Diagnostic and preventive careRoutine exams, professional cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, and sealants
  • Basic restorative treatments — Fillings and extractions, including wisdom teeth removal
  • Endodontic services — Root canals to treat infection and relieve pain
  • Periodontal services — Deep scaling and root planing for gum disease
  • Prosthodontic services — Complete and partial removable dentures, including repairs and relines
  • Orthodontic services — Medically necessary orthodontic treatment, such as braces for children with severe bite problems or adults with craniofacial conditions

Services That Require Preauthorization

Some treatments need prior approval before the CDCP will cover them. These include crowns, complex partial dentures, higher levels of sedation, and advanced orthodontic cases. Your dentist in Barrie can help determine whether preauthorization is needed before you begin treatment.

What the CDCP Does Not Cover

The plan does not cover cosmetic or aesthetic procedures. These services include teeth whitening, veneers, dental implants, and cosmetic bonding.

What You May Owe

The CDCP bases your coverage on your adjusted family net income. Depending on your income level, you may be responsible for a co-payment for covered services.

Park Place Dental in Barrie accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan. If you have further questions about the plan, want to confirm your eligibility, or need to book an appointment, please call us at (705) 728-9922.

According to the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), you need preauthorization for complex or specific/specialized dental treatments, including major dental work.

Examples of preauthorization treatments include, but are not limited to:

  • Oral Surgery (Implants/Complex Extractions)
  • Advanced Restorations (Crowns)
  • Complex Root Canal Therapy
  • Advanced Gum Disease Treatments/Surgeries
  • Complete and Partial Dentures
  • Oral Surgery Complex Extractions, Implants)
  • Specific Types of Anesthesia

Our dental team can give more specific answers based on your treatment needs. We can help you navigate the language of the CDCP and the steps necessary to gain authorization (if applicable) for treatment.

You do not need preauthorization for general dentistry services, such as dental checkups, teeth cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, dental fillings, straightforward extractions, and simple root canals.

Your dentist can evaluate your situation to help determine immediate coverage or the need for preauthorization from CDCP

Understanding CDCP Coverage

dad, mom, and daughter brushing teethCDCP is an excellent tool for helping defray the cost of dental care; however, there are some important parameters to understand. CDCP covers a portion of dental expenses, not the total cost of care. It's not customizable, and you are responsible for your portion of the cost of your dental care.

At Park Place Dental, we believe in transparency. Some treatment procedures may require preauthorization, which means that we will submit your treatment needs to CDCP. They will then determine the amount of coverage you'll receive and your out-of-pocket expense, ensuring you are fully informed about your dental care costs every step of the way.

The CDCP benefit period covers 12 months—from July 1st to June 30th, and patients are reassessed each year to ensure their eligibility.
