At Park Place Dental, we’re committed to the goal of making sure that you have a healthy smile with all of your natural teeth for as long as possible.

However, there are certain circumstances when a tooth extraction becomes necessary and is the best option to protect your dental health.

The idea of losing a tooth can be a devastating experience! First, you’re losing a tooth you thought you’d have forever. Next, you may be dealing with fears about the procedure itself.

That’s why we do everything we can to make your procedure as comfortable and free of stress as possible. You can be confident knowing you are in good hands at Park Place Dental. Our Innisfil dentists have been performing successful extractions for years and know exactly what to do to make sure you’re comfortable.

Reasons for Tooth Extraction

At Park Place Dental, we recommend a tooth extraction only as a last resort.

There are times when a tooth needs to be extracted on an emergency basis, which happens in the case of dental trauma or a severely infected root canal. But other circumstances can arise where a planned extraction is necessary to preserve your overall oral health:

  • A decayed or broken tooth is damaged beyond repair, and we’ve exhausted all other treatment options.
  • In the case of advanced gum disease, we may recommend extraction to save the gums and the rest of the teeth.
  • To achieve the best results during orthodontic treatment. Sometimes we may remove teeth to alleviate crowding.
  • Wisdom teeth. Third molars may be crowded, impacted, or hard to keep clean. If this is the case for you, your dentist may recommend a tooth extraction.

Our Barrie dentists have skills and expertise in helping both adults and children with tooth extractions. State-of-the-art technology and their combined years of experience ensure that your tooth extraction is stress-free. This, in turn, reduces your anxiety as well as any post-operative discomfort.

An extraction can be intimidating, but it does not need to be stressful. At Park Place Dental, we’re pleased to offer effective sedation methods that will help keep you calm during your procedure.

Depending on your individual needs, we may suggest nitrous oxide as well as oral sedation so that you remain comfortable. If you would prefer to go to sleep during the extraction, we are also pleased to offer in-house IV sedation.

Most importantly, though, we’re here to support you with care and compassion. When you’re with us, you have our complete and undivided attention. We always allow enough time during your appointment so we can be sure that you receive the care and attention you deserve. You will never be rushed through a procedure so we can get to the next patient!
