Dr. Joo

Dentist

Dr. Youngwoo Joo brings a strong academic foundation and a wide range of advanced training to his patients at Barrie Park Place Dental. Born in Korea and now based in Vaughan, Dr. Joo completed his undergraduate degrees in zoology and human biology at the University of Toronto before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from NYU College of Dentistry.

Dr. Joo has pursued extensive continuing education, with a focus on implant dentistry, oral surgery, and smile design. His specialized training includes a dental implant residency through The Institute of Dental Excellence (TIDE) in Toronto, advanced implant education covering socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, immediate implant placement, and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) application through the BITES Institute. He also holds IV sedation certification from the University of Toronto and has completed advanced periodontal surgery training — including soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening, and pocket reduction procedures — through the PERIO Institute and Toronto Implant Academy (TIA). Additional coursework includes full-mouth reconstruction, aesthetic veneers and crowns through Dr. Phelan's Occlusion and Aesthetic Design program, and a Digital Smile Design (DSD) residency.

What Dr. Joo values most about dentistry is the relationships he builds along the way. He genuinely enjoys getting to know his patients, earning their trust, and helping them understand how their oral health connects to their overall well-being. Seeing patients leave with a smile — and knowing they feel cared for — is what makes his work so meaningful.

Outside the office, Dr. Joo enjoys snowboarding, golfing, and watching basketball.
