The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does cover dentures and partial dentures. However, these treatments may require preauthorization, and the initiative excludes implant dentures.
What Are CDCP Benefits and Do I Qualify?
The CDCP is a government program designed to make dental care more accessible to uninsured and eligible Canadians.
You might qualify for the program if you meet the following criteria:
- You do not have existing coverage elsewhere.
- You are a Canadian citizen.
- You filed taxes last year.
- You meet the household income requirements ($90,000 yearly)
The CDCP may work on a scale for some families. In other words, lower-income families may have 100 percent coverage. Those on the higher end of the income scale may have a higher copay.
What Types of Services Does the CDCP Cover?
Here is a partial list of covered services:
- Diagnostic and Prevention
- General Restorations
- Root Canal Treatment
- Periodontal Disease Treatment
- Specific Prosthetics
- Specific Types of Dental Surgery
Note that some services require preauthorization.
